Ramblings....

I took a 5 hour nap this afternoon so I am wide awake right now thinking of all the things I did not get done today that I will be doing tomorrow. Wednesday we have a super busy day. We will go to our first Amputee Clinic appointment, then OT, PT and our therapy session. I have been seeing a psychiatrist/psychologist and it really helps to let it out to someone and get feedback. There is no handbook that tells you what to do or how to do it, I am just doing and according to the Doc, I am doing pretty well. Dave is going with me because, well I am making him, but he needs to open up too. There is so much that we are learning to do differently and it gets tough. Part of me wants to do everything for him and "protect" him and the other part of me thinks he needs to be more independent. (Sigh)

One day at a time.....

PS- Dave is now on Facebook! He broke down and joined up the other day, I can't believe how people find you so quickly!

Glad you are talking to someone too. Your life changed so much and I can only imagine the need to just download and vent to a third party that is just there to listen and give you unbiased feedback. It's key in recovering from big trauma. A friend of mine nearly died several years ago in a car accident. She went to therapy for a while to find her normal outlook again and it helped.

Thanks for sharing your journey!

I think its great that you and Dave are going to therapy. It really helps to just have a place to speak your feelings or vent them when you need it! It will take some time, but you are doing all the right things to get back on track, or forge the new one. :)

Good for you for talking to someone. It often helps to have that outside voice telling you what you need to hear, even though it's hard sometimes! :-) Keep up the hard work, and enjoy the occasional nap!

Giant {HUGS} to you! I think it will be liberating and quite cathartic to talk to someone who is an objective outsider so to speak! You will feel better I am sure. You and Dave have been and are and will be experiencing a life-changing event, so this will be a huge help! Good for you Liz. xoxo

That is great...you need each other. I will look for you 2 on my brother's facebook. I can't say I understand what you are going though, I can just guess. I believe you 2 can make it through!

You are both so amazing and strong. I am in awe as I read through your blog and catch up.
Talking to someone who can give outside feedback is such a good idea.
I am sure it is so hard to find a balance of what to do and not to do. But in the end you will both figure out what works for you..it just takes time.

We did that too! We loved Dr. Bouterie there. She was amazing! We went together once and week and then by ourselves once a week too. It really helped and we have started back again. It is so life changing even 3 years later.
