Its been awhile.....

but, we have been really busy. I don't know how many people actually read this before, and I'm sure not too many people look anymore since I stopped writing. But just know that not writing is good, it means the crazy times in our life are mostly in the past. Know that we have different struggles now and it may be difficult for me to share everything that goes on in our private life.....we are striving to be normal again and don't want to be in a fish bowl anymore.

Our house fell thru due to a huge mold problem. But this is actually a good thing, we decided that we REALLY do not want to live in the DC area. We are hoping to go down to Destin so Dave can teach EOD school. In the next few weeks we will be leaving the Mologne House to live down the road in an apartment provided free by Operation Homefront.

Here are a few pictures from the last few weeks:

Poem written about Dave

On The Edge

There are those brave sons, whose fine lives are put before....
Right on the very edge of death, whose fine lives are so pledged!
Explosive Ordnance Disposal Techs, who truly know those words...."No Fear"!
Who rush in, while others rush out...into such sure death, no doubt!
Magnificent men, with but nerves of steel...all in those moments of death so belongs!
On that edge, all out there on their own...were sure death so belongs!
One wrong move, and they are gone!
On May 11, 2009, a fine son of The South...
So put his life on the line, to live without!
Right back on the edge, all for God and Country, so pledged...
As when an explosion, almost took young David's life...
As from the edge of death, all in this darkness so left...
Somehow, his soul still burned!
And on that morning when he awoke...
And looked down and realized what this war had invoked!
Trying to hold back those tears, as on them he so choked...
With one leg gone, and the other hanging...just by a hope...
As he knew for sure, nothing would ever be the same...
As in his heart, he so called out his wife's name...
And looking into Heaven, to find the strength and courage to so ease his pain...
And start, and engineer his life all over again...
For in his heart of courage, somehow he found the will!
To so stand, as from out of those ashes rise...as his courageous tears instilled!
To Reach and Teach, and to so Beseech and Bless all of us!
With the kin of courage, to the Angels bring such tears!
Like the Mississippi delta, his magnificent heart so shined!
In our live and in our times...
Could we ever such the strength and courage so find?
When on that edge...how can such faith and courage grow as said?
Only in such hearts of magnificence...can such Flowers of Faith so grow...
And if I have son, I pray he could be like this fine one...

Dave has been feeling great with the halo gone! He will get the splint off Thursday at 8am, then use a boot ( like an aircast) for awhile. He will be able to walk on that and resume walking at PT.

We have a busy end of winter/spring coming up! My brother has been with us for 2 weeks job hunting in the area, he is leaving this weekend but coming back in Feb. The 2nd week of Feb. we will be returning to Barksdale AFB for a week. We are very excited to see friends and the community that helped us out so much in the beginning! At the end of Feb. we will be going to NYC for the weekend for dinner, a show, and some R&R. In March Dave will be in a celebrity golf tournament and I will be turning 27! The end of April and beginning of May we will be attending the EOD Memorial Service and Ball, then we fly home for a day and leave for Cabo San Lucas for a Amputee golf tournament that Dave will be in.

Sometime in between all this we hope to move out of the Mologne House into an apartment! I am very excited about this b/c 1 room is just not cutting it for me anymore. I have daily anxiety attacks when I can't find things....

Branching Out

Wii's for Warriors has really taken off, we have given out 9 so far (That's close to $4,000 worth)! Dave and I are always looking for new ways to help out around here, so we have been talking with a few guys around the mologne house who sit around and play guitar at night. We decided to start up a jam session/classes for guys in the hospital and the MH. We are going to look into buying a few used guitars and getting this going within the next week. This would be extremely helpful for guys who have played before and may have lost an arm or hand and are learning to play again with the other hand. Also it provides a soldier with any injury an opportunity to get together with others with a common interest.

Home for the Holidays

Dave and I have been at home in Diamondhead since Dec. 21. Dave has been on the golf course pretty much every day that it has not rained. Most days he has played all 18 holes!

We are heading back to Walter Reed on the 5th!
