I just got back from the hospital, it was a long night. Dave needed more blood, his levels were really low for some reason even after the 2 bags the day before. For those of you who don't know, 2 bags of blood takes all night, we started at 11pm and they just put the 2nd bag on at 5am. I finally could not take it anymore, what you may ask? The vital checks every fifteen minutes and the beeping, those stupid machines beep all the time, just when I get back on my chair and close my eyes......beeeeeeep beeeeeeep.

Needless to say I am a tad bit grumpy this morning.......but hopefully Dave will feel better!

Hi,
I came across your blog while trying to gather facts and figures regarding the treatment of our combat wounded. I am an Army Vet, married to an Army Soldier, we're stationed at Fort Carson, CO. I had tears in my eyes as I read all the way back to your original post. I know that I am hundreds, if not thousands of miles away, but if you need anything, ANYTHING, please let me know. A very, very, very good friend of mine is actually a nurse up on Ward 57....we've known each other since grade school, he was in the Army, but was medically retired because of wounds obtained overseas.

I am sorry for what has happened to your husband, his sacrifices are appreciated, and will not go forgotten. America is the land of the free because of the brave, and he is the brave!!!!

I subscribed to your blog...I hope you don't mind. And when I said if you needed anything to let me know, I was 100% honest. When my husband suffered a heart attack while in Afghanistan I learned the hard way that people can't help you if they don't know.

I admire you and David's positive outlook! I know that will speed up the healing and thereaputic rehabilitation and recovery!!!!

I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers. Sincere hugs and thanks to the both of you...you're amazing!

Dave & Liz,
I found your blog today and first off, I would like to thank you for all the sacrifices that both of you have made for our country. I am so very sorry for everything that you have been through. I hope that Dave's continued recovery will go well. It breaks my heart, to see what is happening to our very brave men and women, in the military.
We are sort-of "neighbors", we live in the Houston area and have made numerous trips to Shreveport. We have been to Barksdale on a couple of occasions and have toured the museum there. If there is anything that my husband and I can do for you, please just email me, we are just a few hours drive from you.
Once again, thank you and God bless. Susan Franger

Hi my name is Stephanie Baker the wife of Cory Baker. Cory knows Dave and ask me to get on here to let you and your family know that we are praying for all of you each and everyday. Cory couldn't comment on the blog from the computers where he is. They know each other from the EOD schoolhouse I believe. Anyway if Dave has access to e-mail Cory would love to be able to communicate with him. Cory's e-mail is bakerjoe15@yahoo.com if you will e-mail me I can give you his work e-mail which he checks on a daily basis. My e-mail is stephanierenae_55@yahoo.com. Or maybe send us Dave's e-mail so Cory could e-mail him. Please know that we are praying for you and thinking about you everyday and of course if you need ANYTHING let me know. I will always be here for you and your family. God Bless You All, Sincerely The Baker Family

I am sorry you had a crappy day. That part of not sleeping is one of the bad parts about being in a hospital. I hope the surgery went well for Dave.. I hope you get a chance for shut-eye yourself. Thanks again for your and dave's sacrifices...all the military for their sacrifices. Take care,

Jennifer

Hello Liz, I found my way here via your Mom.

I don't know how to tell you how grateful we are for the bravery and courage you and your husband are exhibiting under such extraordinary circumstances. 'Thank You' feels utterly inadequate. You and he exemplify why we remain a free country, but the sacrifice is immense.

We (my husband and myself) are keeping you in our thoughts and prayers.

And thank you for posting even when exhausted; remaining up to speed on how you and he are doing is a gift, it helps us feel connected.

Sending good thoughts, prayers, and a hug,
tp
