David and I had a good weekend, I spent all day Saturday in the ER while Dave slept. Nothing too serious, I have had jaw problems for a few years now and it has really been bothering me the past few weeks. During our lunch I bit into a Subway sandwich and my jaw locked on me, which is very painful. So after a few minutes of David begging me to go get it looked at I went down to the ER. 6 hours and a shot of Demerol later, they diagnosed me with Trismus. So today I am going to have a head & neck CT done. I am a little scared I will have to wear a cage around my head to fix this, but I guess Dave and I will match!

Enough about me, David is doing much better pain wise ( or at least he is hiding it better) He graduated to a regular bed, so that he can get back in by himself after being in his chair. His old bed did not lower far enough so he couldn't butt scoot in. And yesterday he got a "big boy potty"......just kidding although it does remind me of potty training or something. He will probably kill me for writing all this....

I learned how to adjust his pins yesterday so that we can do that on our own and I also showed a new ortho doc how to do a dressing change on his leg. I may have missed my medical calling in life......

So sorry to hear about your health issues, I hope it gets better soon. Glad to hear David is progressing so well. It's apparent through the pictures that he is in a lot of pain and it breaks my heart to know that. Stay strong you two.

We're off to NC next month then, Mr's starts his 15e training, its going to be tough and I'm nervous, but we're gonna get through it.

I'm always so amazed and inspired by the 2 of you. Keep up the good fight!

Hey Dave-o,

I know I'm the worst friend in the world for not writing sooner. Just wanted to say hey and tell you I love you and Liz. I got my flight date yesterday, and I'll be stopping in to see you on the way back. I should be there on the 8th, and should be able to spend the day with ya'll. Anyway I gotta run brother.

Love you much,

Timbo

I just found your blog from Mrs. Jetplane and wanted to send my prayers and thoughts to you and David. My brother is a Marine and returning from 9 months on the USS Boxer after, thankfully, never entering a combat zone. We are so incredibly lucky but I know that there are so many families, like yours, that are living with the aftermath of an injury or death in this war. Thank you for putting your family on the line to protect others. There truly are no words to say how much I will be rooting for David as he heals.

I just learned of your blog through a fellow military wife's blog...Mrs. Jetplane. I can't begin to imagine what you and your husbnd have had to endure since his injury.

As the wife of a Marine, injury is something we all worry about but push to the back of our minds until we see it up close and personal.

It touches my heart to read your story and I obtain courage during the rough times from my fellow military spouses...you and your husband are an inspiration just by doing what you do.

Just found this blog and want you to know I will keep the two of you in your prayers. I worked as a civilian with USACE in Iraq for several years and dated an army EOD guy for several months. You guys are amazing and take great risks to protect the rest of us.

Hi! I don't remember how I got to your blog exactly. Ha ha. I was on one blog, then on another, and then on your's. I read the whole blog today and had to hold back the tears the whole time! I cannot imagine what you two are going through.

Liz- I'm sorry to hear about your jaw. That sounds very painful. I hope its starting to feel better.
Dave- I'm so glad to hear you are improving. Also, thank you for serving our country. Your whole life has changed just because you chose to serve.
Thank you both for the courage and strength you have shown during this difficult time.

My husband and I actually live in Alexandria, VA - about 20 minutes from DC. Maybe sometime we can come and visit. I don't know what the protocol for visitors is at Walter Reed.

So glad I found your blog and will definitely keep reading.

Hope you both had a good day and are feeling much much better!
